History of the Friends of the Blues
FRIENDS OF THE BLUES
The Friends Of The Blues were founded by Howard Travis in 2012, a life-long supporter of the Blues who continues to travel to matches home and away from his home in Wales. The sole purpose of the organisation’s formation was to support the club through raising money.
Growing to over 200 members including supporters, local businesses and even players, the Friends of the Blues have become an important fundraising organisation providing substantial sums for Bedford Blues projects via various competitions, events and collections. In recent years they have helped fund a total refurb of the marquee and a new gym for the players.
Members donate as much as £30,000 each year and have generated over £300,000 to date to help the club.
After the initiative by the FOBs to support the Followers with away travel the two groups continued to work together to support the Blues and the new organisation BEDFORD BLUES SUPPORTERS CLUB was formed.
Although early days the energy and ideas of the merged group provides an exciting development that will inevitably go from strength to strength with new members looking to join an already successful supporters group that is aiming to provide more fun for a wider fan base forward and of course increase its financial support to the club.
